This next trail will take us through
the old railroad system of Cape Cod.
TheCapeCodRailTrail is a
25-mile bike path that will take you
through six lower and mid-cape
towns. On this trail, you will be
taken from South Yarmouth to
Dennis, winding into Harwich and
Brewster taking you through
Nickerson Park. On your way to
Orleans, you will experience the
beautiful Rock Harbor area. From
there you will pass through the salt
marshes of the Cape Cod National
Seashore Center in Eastham and
finally end in Le Count Hollow in
Wellfleet. This trail takes its cyclists
past many restaurants, hotels, and
attractions which also have trail
access giving you many entry
points.
Lastly, this path will take you
through some of the most
breathtaking views on Cape Cod.
TheShiningSeaBikeway is a
10-mile-long trail that takes you
from North Falmouth Village to
Woods Hole. This trail follows the
old New York, New Haven, and
Hartford Railroad that used to run
from Buzzards Bay through North
and West Falmouth. The route,
luckily enough, avoids most of
Falmouth's summer traffic by
winding off into the beach's
shorelines, cranberry bogs, harbors,
and the marshes of the Salt Pond
Bird Sanctuary.
Cape Cod offers cyclists a paradise
like no other, picturesque seaside
landscapes and the historical
coastal villages will transport you
away from the hustle and bustle of
life. Whether you are an
experienced rider or have just
started, Cape Cod has something for
every cyclist.
