From Buzzards Bay Park, continue exploring bus- tling Main Street, which is home to several antique shops including Buzzards Bay Antiques, Antique Asylum and Canal Antiques. At these shops, you will find collectible vintage jewelry, toys, furniture, clothing and more. For those visiting Bourne during Independence Day, Main Street is also the location of the town's Fourth of July parade, which begins promptly at 10 a.m. that day. An Artistic Retreat in Cataumet In the nearby Bourne village of Cataumet, take a visit to The Cataumet Arts Center, an art gallery where artists share special exhibitions, gallery talks, classes, working studios, concerts, as well as arts and cultural events. Admission is free for the gal- leries and one exhibit in particular – named the "Artful Way" gallery – features fine arts from more than 40 Cape Cod artists in oil painting, pastel, wa- tercolor, photography, sculpture, pottery, printmak- ing and mixed-media, hand-blown glass, jewelry, weaving and fiber arts. The Cataumet Arts Center also hosts the Catau- met Artists' Fair, a large, annual, one-day event where more than 40 local artists exhibit their work both indoors and outside. The event also includes painting, pottery and glass-making demonstra- tions, art and story-telling activities for children of all ages, as well as live music and food. This year's Cataumet Artists' Fair will be held on Sunday, July 29 – you don't want to miss it! Traditional Glassblowing in Sagamore Explore more art in the village of Sagamore by visiting Pairpoint Glassworks located on 851 Sand- wich Road, home to America's oldest glassworks founded in 1837. At Pairpoint, visitors can walk through the manufacturing area and meet the talented glassblowers who make intricate, artistic glass products, which are also sold at Pairpoint's retail shop. Pairpoint continues the 200 year old tradition of glassmaking, and the company showcases the traditional techniques and tools used in Cape Cod's original production. The shop also accepts custom orders, which are made by artisans whose works are displayed in various museums and installations. Glassblowing hours are Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., making this a perfect weekday destination for the artist or history buff in the family. Cape Cod Canal One of the top attractions in Bourne is the Cape Cod Canal, a waterway connecting Buzzards Bay in Bourne and Cape Cod Bay in the Northern Cape. Each year, more than three million tourists visit the Cape Cod Canal.
