Spanning 100 acres of gardens, exhibits, and family-friendly experiences, Heritage invites visitors to explore the natural beauty and cultural history of Cape Cod through festivals, special exhibitions, and engaging programs. This year's exhibitions highlight the stories that have shaped the region and the nation. In the Special Exhibitions Gallery through interactive displays and hands-on experiences, Cranberries: From Cape Cod to American Icon explores how the humble berry first cultivated here became a beloved American staple. Across the grounds, Remembering the Revolution commemorates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with a site-wide exploration of American history, featuring military dioramas, silver crafted by Paul Revere, and artifacts that reveal how the Revolution shaped southeastern New England. Visitors can also explore the living cultural landscape of the Wampanoag wetu, mush8n (dugout canoe), and Three Sisters Garden, which illustrate how this land was used for seasonal planting by local Wampanoag communities for thousands of years. In the J.K. Lilly III Automobile Gallery, the exhibition From Carriage to Classic traces the evolution of the automobile through 25 vehicles from Heritage's collection, showcasing the transformation from early horseless carriages to mid-century classics. Throughout the season, Heritage hosts a wide variety of festivals and special programs. Spring begins with Earth Celebration Day (April 25) and the spectacular Rhododendron Festival (May 15–25), when thousands of rhododendrons burst into bloom. Summer highlights include the 54th Annual Heritage Auto Show (June 13) and the beloved Hydrangea Festival (July 10–19), celebrating Cape Cod's iconic flower. Visitors can also enjoy relaxed evenings at Food Truck Fun Nights, featuring local cuisine, live music, and garden strolls. Cultural and community celebrations continue throughout the year with Wampanoag Heritage Day (August 22), Cranberry Celebration Day (September 26), and several Community Days o=ering free admission for Sandwich residents, seniors, and veterans.
