as if he met her approval. His name is Frankie, after
Frank Sinatra, a favorite of Juliana's grandfather, who
recently passed. Dottie was in perfect health, spunky,
and suddenly gone.
I see her everywhere and cry with my daughter.
The pain is so real. How did I become such a lover of my
beautiful grandchild? She taught us all so many lessons,
gave us so many laughs, and left us with so many great
memories. I can only hope to accomplish what she gave
my child. I watch little Frankie desperately look for
Dottie. Dottie seemingly knew it was okay to leave her
best friend with this special puppy. I'm so proud that
Dottie was so loved and cared for, and that love gave
her such a long life.
Dottie Zelda, thank you for carrying me and
carrying my child. She was never too heavy for you,
and you were never too much for her. I can never forget
the beautiful bond between you. I am traumatized by
the sight of my broken child, but I do know she will
grow even stronger, as you taught her how to go on
and be the best she can be. I now have a much deeper
empathy for others who have lost their pets.
I witnessed a miracle, a special love between a
girl and a dog. And if love could have kept you here, you
would have lived forever. You have your wings, Lady
Dottie. We will always smile at the thought of you and
our memories. Our lives are better because you chose
us, and now we set you free, gone but never forgotten.
