Fabulous Falmouth
As you read this, you may realize that, contrary to
popular belief, our peninsula is not very small—Cape Cod is
quite large, and a week will never be enough time to see all it
has to offer.
One of my favorite areas is Falmouth, located in the
southwest corner of the Cape. Eight villages make up this
beautiful gateway to Martha's Vineyard. The Island Queen is
a wonderful ferry service to Martha's Vineyard, and before
you know it, after just a cup of coffee, you've reached your
destination.
The beaches are warm and exquisite, and my favorite is
Old Silver Beach. Take a stroll down Main Street, known for
its classic New England charm. Restaurants and shops galore
await you. Two local favorites are the Quarterdeck on Main
and Bucatino's, located off Route 28 in North Falmouth.
Two must-visit spots are the Falmouth Art Center and the
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Ocean Science
Discovery Center. The Falmouth Art Center is dedicated to
the visual arts and is open year-round. Visit its website for
events, workshops, summer camps, classes, and a beautiful
gallery at your fingertips. It is located at 137 Gifford Street in
Falmouth. WHOI is the world's leading independent nonprofit
dedicated to ocean science, technology, education, and
communication.
How about dinner and a movie? The Woods Hole Film
Festival, located at 89 Water Street #2 in Woods Hole, is a
nonprofit arts organization that showcases independent
films with ties to New England, Cape Cod, and emerging
