Members of the commercial fishing fleet make their run each suitable day to the fishing grounds located from 3 to 100 miles off of Chatham. Shortly after noon, depending on the tide, the boats start returning with their catch consisting of haddock, cod, flounder, pol- lack, dogfish, halibut and lobster. Spectators line the dock watching as the fresh catch is placed in ice to be transported in refrigerated trucks to Boston, New York, New Bedford and local markets, arriving there less than 24 hours after being harvested from the sea. Overlooking Aunt Lydia's Cove, Tern Island Sancturay and beyond to the open Atlantic, the viewing deck offers one of the most spectacular vistas Cape Cod has to offer. Visitors of all ages are fascinated by their close encounters with the seals that can be counted on to present quite a show as they frolic in the water around the boats. Guests may park in the upper lot and walk down to the pier as the lower lot is reserved for workers. View from the Chatham Fish Pier
