Only half a mile from downtown. Swim at your own risk in the unpredictable strong currents and waves. Harding's Beach in West Chatham is home of the warmer, calmer waters of Nantucket Sound. Most people agree Harding's Beach is Chatham's most family friendly beach. You'll find more than enough room to spread a blanket. Ridgevale Beach in West Chatham is located be- tween Harding's Beach and Cockle Cove. Ridgevale is a wonderful place for a scenic walk. Cockle Cove Beach in South Chatham is an inviting Nantucket Sound Beach. Perfect for small children, the water is warm and calm. Oyster Pond Beach is a saltwater pond with very warm and calm water. It's centrally located within walking distance from town. Forest Beach and Pleasant Street Beach in South Chatham, are small family beaches. With limited parking they are mostly visited by local residents. Pleasant Bay at Jackknife Cove in North Cha- tham at the Harwich town line is a sheltered cove perfect for children with warm, shallow water and lovely sweeping views across Pleasant Bay.
