Then there is Hyannis, the hub of Cape Cod. This part of the Cape offers endless shop- ping opportunities, amusement parks and other entertainment and dining options. BARNSTABLE / HYANNIS The bustling economic center of the Cape is downtown Hyannis, which has the largest and most expansive choices for shopping, dining and lodging on Cape Cod. Hyannis's Main Street is lined with shops and restaurants targeted for locals, tourists and vacationers alike. The HyArts Artist Shanties on Ocean Street enable visitors to view wonderful art and meet the artists. Todd Deluca, Executive Director of the Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce, says Main Street, ideal for people watching, offers much more. The John F. Kennedy Hyannis Mu- seum, located at 391 Main Street, is a multi- media exhibit built to take visitors back to the days when the Kennedy family spent time on Cape Cod. The exhibits feature videos and pic- tures from 1934 to 1963 of JFK and his friends and family on the Cape, which was near and dear to his heart. Past exhibits have focused on JFK's mother, Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy; Jack and Bobby Kennedy, "Brothers First;" and the summer of 1963 up until the 35th president of the United States was assassinated. The newest exhibit, which will run through 2019, is called the "RFK: Ripple of Hope" exhibit, which was put together with the help of the RFK Human Rights Foundation. One highlight of this exhibit is the impromptu speech RFK gave to mourning onlookers the night Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. Deluca says that the John F. Kennedy Hy- annis Museum is not to be missed when guests come by Hyannis. "Visitors should come and take some time to understand the Kennedy fam- ily and their connection with Hyannis," he says.
