The path follows the original route of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad, which used to travel from Buzzards Bay through North and West Falmouth, around Woods Hole and into Falmouth Station. The path out- lines the coast from Falmouth to Woods Hole and North Falmouth, trailing along the Vine- yard Sound shoreline. Aside from providing a smooth, paved surface for exercise, the path cuts through Sippewissett Marsh and cranberry bogs, and offers a breath-taking view of Chapa- quoit Beach's white sand shoreline. If wet weather comes, Kasparian says there's plenty to do indoors, too. Families can pop by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institu- tion at 15 School Street, Woods Hole to check out the institute's ocean science research, ex- plore interactive exhibits, explore a full-sized model of the mini submarine Alvin, listen to recordings of whale or dolphin calls and more. When the kids are ready for a break from learn- ing, Kasparian says Falmouth also offers plenty of arts opportunities. "Falmouth has a thriving arts and entertainment community," he says. "There are numerous local artists, plenty of plays in the local theater and more." Whether guests are looking to take a blast into the past, sink their teeth into New England Nobska Light, Falmouth Photo by Amy Rader seafood or soak in the scenery, the Upper Cape has it all. Acheson, of Mashpee, says that visitors and residents alike can't go wrong, no mat- ter what activities they choose or which Upper Cape town they pick to mosey on through. "What one town doesn't have; another will be able to deliver. There's so much here; and the atmosphere is like nothing else on Cape Cod. Shopping, entertainment, events and more, all year round".• Main Street, Falmouth Photo courtesy of Falmouth Chamber of Commerce
