The Provincetown Jazz Festival™ is a 501(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Non-Profit Organization. The 15th Annual Provincetown Jazz Festival will be held on Thursday, August 15, 7:00PM at The Crown & Anchor, 247 Commercial Street in Provincetown and on Monday, August 19, 7:30PM at the Cotuit Center For The Arts, 4404 Route 28 in Cotuit. Since 2005 the festival has presented jazz musicians from around the world. The Crown & Anchor show in Provincetown will fea- ture some great young jazz talent. Jazz-Pop vocalist, com- poser, arranger and lyricist Jessica Curran will grace the stage accompanied by Brazilian pianist Fabiano de Castro, Ron Ormsby on bass and Bart Weisman on drums. Also performing that night will be the winner of the 2017 Djan- gofest North West Saga Award, 14- year-old gypsy jazz gui- tarist Henry Acker with his uncle Dana Acker on double bass and his father Victor Acker also on guitar. The Cotuit Center For The Arts show will present two internationally acclaimed jazz greats. Katie Thiroux, who has gathered attention for her bravura bass playing and compelling vocals, will perform with New York / Boston based Kevin Harris on piano. In praise of Thiroux, music icon Quincy Jones has declared "This girl is it!" Joining them will be Jeremy Turgeon on trumpet and Bart Weisman on drums. Playing a distinctive combination of traditional and contemporary music, pianist Harris will also take the stage with Max Ridley on bass and drummer Lee Fish. Tickets are $30 per concert and a portion of the proceeds from the festival are donated to the Jazz in the Schools Program on Cape Cod as well as to other worthy causes. There will be a free bus leaving from Hyannis and from Harwich for the Provincetown concert.
